Sorry, but the DoJ is paying the price for their abuse of due process. Apple and Google are simply responding to the will of the people to do what’s right; better than the executive branch in this case. I’d be very surprised if they could get the legislation they want introduced, much less passed in this political climate. This is what happens when you betray the public trust.
Oh, one more thought… there is not a balancing act, here. The Constitution is pretty clear about due process and the need for a warrant. You want to search someone’s phone? Fine, show cause and get a warrant. If the suspect refuses to comply, then you have the ability to jail them. It may not be convenient, but liberty is not a convenient philosophy.

This is bad enough on its face:

But consider that this is coming after purging the military of soldiers and officers for whom their oath really means something. Is this a case of packing the military with people who’s only loyalty is to the hand that feeds them?
Remember too, that this is happening after it is being reported elsewhere that the army is getting even pickier about who they are allowing in. How are they going to address this policy?

Here’s the deal, though. With Obama you have to follow the Progressive agenda. So what’s the benefit for the agenda? That is what drives him. In this case, it’s probably the only chance there is of holding onto the Senate. If he loses the Senate, not only does Obama get shut down, but there is a real chance of his policies being pushed back. This is also his best chance of keeping a Rand Paul or Ted Cruz from winning the White House in 2016. Even if it doesn’t go to a Democrat, it takes away an issue that could be used against left leaning Republicans.
