Cruz victory but a long month coming…

Well now.  Cruz wins Iowa after taking a political assault the likes I haven’t seen since Reagan’s day.  The only thing that *really* surprised me was Rubio finishing as close to Trump as he did.

That is actually the most – if not only – important result of this caucus.  It pretty much puts the nails in the coffin for the Bush campaign.  Rubio is definitely the establishment choice.

I’m going to expect New Hampshire to be much the same with Cruz and Trump trading places.  At this point though, you have to consider the possibility – slight, but still a finite possibility – that Rubio could take NH.  I don’t think it will happen, but you can bet the establishment is thinking this way.

The end result?  Unless Bush has a major comeback in NH, I wouldn’t be surprised if he drops out soon with Huckabee and the other 1% crowd.

Trumping Conservatism?

Something good is happening in the Republican Party.  The Party Leadership, the power brokers, the “Establishment” is being forced to make a choice that they prayed they would never have to make.  One between hatred and fear.

trump-fired-1024x5971On the one hand is hatred.  That would be Donald Trump.  He is not only outside of their control, but has openly expressed disdain for them. Continue reading

We Are Sick of Paying the Price for Elitists to Feel Smug – Kurt Schlichter – Page full

A lot of us complain that our elite betters are ignoring our concerns, but nothing could be further from the truth. They have heard us all right.

This gives an excellent nutshell of where the electorate – especially the Conservative electorate – stand in their relationship with the political class.  It’s really worth the read.

Democrats Are Lying About Their Gun Sales Ban

IMG_0105Source: Democrats Are Lying About Their Gun Sales Ban

You need to read this article from The Federalist.  It confirms what I was predicting when this “No Fly List” idea first came out.

Based on the proposed law, it means that if you belong to a TEA Party organization, you could be banned from owning guns based on DoJ’s warning in the past associating the TEA Party with domestic terrorism.  Based on the claims of some Democrat officials, if you are a member of the NRA, you’re a terrorist.  Could your gun rights be stolen under this law?

What this law amounts to is a secret federal list that the government can use to disarm anyone without due process.  All that is required is that they consider you to have a possible terror connection or interest.  Once you are one the list, you are looking a enormous amounts of time and money in the attempt to get your name cleared.

Re: It’s Time to Ban Guns. Yes, All of Them | New Republic

First, Thank you Phoebe for being honest. While the rest of your ideological allies talk about gun safety or gun control, you have the decency and courage to be honest. I may disagree with you profoundly, but you have my highest respect.

As far as your position goes, though, the pro-gun advocate already understands Continue reading

U.S. debt jumps half a trillion in three weeks

The national debt has surged more than half a trillion dollars in the last three weeks, as the suspension of the debt ceiling in late October has allowed the government to borrow as much as it wants.

Thank you ever so much, John Boehner.  You’ve got to read it to believe it.  And Party leaders don’t understand why we are rejecting them?  I’m beginning to think the GOP Leadership have proven better supporters of Obama’s agenda than even Pelosi and Reid.

How Will It End?

KoshOne of my favorite TV series’ is Babylon 5.  In one scene during the second season, the dying Centauri emperor asks Kosh – a mystical alien ambassador from the Vorlon Empire – how will the turmoil occurring end.

Kosh replies, “In fire.”

I have long looked at the 1st and 2nd plus the 9th and 10th Amendments as bookends that defined and defended this country’s idea of liberty just by virtue of the natural rights they recognize.  It was one area where Conservative and Liberal came together in principle where the greatest difference is in the path to preserve those liberties.  Most of the Democrats I know today still hold this principle when you take the time to challenge politely.  Of the few that don’t, most of them have some real or perceived personal stake in their position. “But What Can One Person Do?”

DSCF0017A lot, actually!  Progressives are becoming more and more shrill.  That’s a good sign.  It means they are in trouble.  I’m hoping current events have been getting conservatives fired up.  The thing is, you can’t just get fired up.  Actions have to be put to the words for it to mean anything.  Even if you don’t have much money (I don’t and this Republican party wouldn’t get a dime from me, regardless), there’s still a lot you can do.

The first and most important is to speak up.  You can Continue reading
